Happy Summer Solstice!

Yesterday was the longest day of the year, so I decided to dress up a little!
I wanted to wear my flower crown again, but I wasn't in the mood for Lolita, so I thought I'd give Mori girl style a go. Mori girl is a Japanese style centred around a forest girl theme and involves a lot of dreamy fabrics and lace worn in a more rustic style, it has similarities to Dolly Kei.
I went for a dress by a brand called Yumi, which is sold here in the UK, and kept it simple by layering over a plain white dress and pairing it with some brown sandals, then finishing the look off with my flower crown of course!
I adore the lace detailing on this dress and the floaty fabric! I think the flower crown works really well with it too! Unfortunately I think the sandals probably worked better with this outfit in my head than they did in real life =( next time I'll probably wear brogues or boots and some chunky crochet tights instead. A floaty peignoir would probably look really cute layered over the dress too!
For a first attempt at Mori girl, I don't think its the worst look ever, but it definitelt isn't the best!
Remembered to take a faceshot too for a change! I usually braid my hair when I wear my flower crown, but I like this more casual look too ^_^

New dresses - Purples!

Hello! I've been feeling pretty sad over the past couple of days, so I thought i'd post about a couple of new dresses I've bought recently! I love shopping and adore looking over and taking photos of new items, though its possible I take far too many photos!

First up is my Ribbon Maiden Jacquard from Angelic Pretty in Lavender. I bought the red version of this dress (not shown in this post) around Christmas time and when I found this set for sale with the headbow, I wasn't sure if I'd be keeping both dresses. But I do have to say that the different colours create entirely different looking dresses, so I can safely say I am definitely keeping both colours of this dress!
I actually found this for sale on Pinterest of all places! It had been up for nearly a year and I was certain it had sold, but I took a chance and messaged the girl selling it through facebook (though it felt a bit random and strange XD) and to my luck she still had it for sale! Which goes to show that sometimes old sales posts can be worth replying to! Now the dress and headbow are all mine!

I adore the scalloped placket and buttons down the front.

The jacquard fabric is such a subtle touch, the bows and dots are slightly pinker than the rest of the dress in real life. The feeling of the fabric is so regal too! I love all the lace on this dress, but my favourite has to be this bow lace!

The headbow is so big! Its wired to make it stand up, I guess this is because of the weight if the fabric! The pearls and heart charm are a cute touch too!
Unfortunately this dress doesn't have back shirring, so it doesn't currently fit me. I am doing something about that though, and am hoping that through dieting and moderate excercise I can be wearing this beauty by the end of the year!

Next up is Lyrical Bunny Lucky pack jsk by Angelic Pretty in purple. Angelic Pretty released this dress as part of a set at the beginning of 2011 as part of their annual lucky pack promotion. Lucky packs are an amazing way to start a lolita wardrobe or a perfect way of adding a full co ord and some basics to your wardrobe. I believe this jsk came with a matching headbow, socks, blouse and boston bag. I've only managed to get my hands on the jumperskirt at the moment, but I am desperate to find the matching headbow too!
This dress was actually up for trade by someone on the fb sales, but I didn't have anything the seller was asking for, so I messaged and asked her if she would be willing to sell and to let me know if she did decide to. A couple of days later it went up for sale and I bought it on a payment plan! Good job I showed interest when it was up for trade or I may have missed out on buying it!

The bright colour of this dress is so unusual in Lolita and gives it such a kitsch 50s feel to me.

What is there not to love about this bodice front?! Pintucks, lace in the seams, neck ruffle and two bows!
Though with that being said, I do wish the lay plan was more carefully thought out, there's two upside down cupcakes on the front of this dress ;-;

I wasn't expecting the neck ruffle to go around the back of the dress, so that was a really nice surprise! Also, back shirring! Which means this dress fits me!

Close ups of the print. Adorable Bunnies! The little tags in the bunny's ears remind me of Steiff bears, which mean a lot to me since my Nan bought me one for Christmas one year when I was little! ^_^
The embroidered hem lace is so pretty too!
I love this dress and I am so so glad that I picked it up! Its just a shame that it sits quite short on me, it doesn't bother me too much and if needed I can always get an underskirt to go with it!

Happy International Lolita Day! - June 2014

Happy International Lolita Day!

For you that don't know what International Lolita Day is, it is two days of the year that Lolitas everywhere celebrate! I'm pretty sure that it's an idea published by the Gothic Lolita Bible a few years back. The days of ILD are the first Saturday of June and the first Saturday of December. This year the first ILD is on the 7th of June, that's today! To celebrate me and my friend Suzy decided to frock up for a mooch round town.

Here's what I wore:

Rundown:
Jsk: Customised Indie brand (Regalia)
Headbow: Regalia
Rose comb: handmade
Everything else: offbrand.

You might not be able to see it, but the dress is covered in tiny umbrellas, which is very fitting as this year it rained a lot!

And bonus mirror shot! ^_^

I enjoyed walking rpund town with my friend Suzy, we went to Mc Donalds and got a Happy Meal, they currently have a cute Hello Kitty toy with them:
Its a little art set in a keyring box! Inside is stickers, paper, envelopes and a little pencil. On the back there's an embosser too. I'm not really fussed about the art set with it (even if it is super adorable!), I wanted it more because I think it'll look really cute as a bag charm!

Even though I had a really nice time in town, today's actually been pretty unlucky =(
First, I ended up not using the satchel in my co ord because when I opened it up to put all my things for the day in it (I took the co ord photos before filling up my handbag! XD), I found an infestation of mites! It was disgusting, I screamed and leapt away, its possibly the fastest I've moved in recent times!
Then we got soaked walking around town and now my bones ache =(
And lastly, I got into an argument with some friends over a misunderstanding (though I guess its not a real International Lolita day without drama!).

They say bad luck comes in threes, so I hope that's all for me! Fingers crossed December's ILD is much luckier!

Co ord catch up!

It's been a while hasn't it? Hope you are well!
I knew I'd have some difficulty keeping up to date with my blog, but that's okay, I'm here now to share some co ords from my last two outings in Lolita!
Unfortunately I didn't manage to get any photos of me wearing them. So these shots of them laid out on my bed are all I've got. I find laying them out before I put them on helps me to see how an outfit will gel together!
Onto the photos:
I wore this outfit to meet up with my Lolita comm for Lunch! It was a really fun meet! After lunch we went on a fair ride that went way up high in the sky, it was a little bit scary and I was worried about losing my flower crown!

Outfit rundown:
Jsk: Baby, the Stars Shine Bright Thumbelina print
Bolero: Baby, the Stars Shine Bright flower embroidery
Bag: Bodyline
Socks and shoes: Offbrand

Accessories shot:
Rundown:
Flower crown: Handmade
Bangle: Pandora
Bracelet: Vivienne Westwood
Ring: Accessorize
Necklace: Gift

This next outfit I wore to meet up with my friend Suzy for a catch up and a little bit of shopping, so I decided to play it casual. I love my Happy Garden OP, so when Spring and Summer comes around I take every opportunity to wear it!
OP: Angelic Pretty Happy Garden
Parka: Handmade
Bag and shoes: Offbrand

Accessories shot:
Flower crown and necklace are both handmade. I made the necklace when I was a kid, I was so pleased with how it came out that I still can't bear to part with it even now!

I wore the same flower crown with both co ords, can you tell I'm slightly obsessed with it? I came across the tutorial on tumblr and just had to try it out. It took me ages to do and was very fiddly to get the hang of, but I adore the way it looks when worn! Suzy loves it too and has asked me to make one for her in blue! ^_^
